Recently, the OLIP interns had the opportunity to meet with Mitch Gascoyne, a Partner and Senior Vice President of Development at Centrecourt, one of OLIP newest partners. Centrecourt is one of the largest residential high-rise developers in Canada, with recent projects in Pickering City Centre, Kipling Station and Toronto’s downtown core.

Mitch was very generous with his time, allowing the interns to ask a series of questions pertaining to the housing industry. Our conversation touched on how condo developers are responding to more stringent municipal sustainability standards, the impact of the ‘cost to build’ crisis on home prices and the importance of public transit development across the GTA. Our conversation concluded with a reflection on the future of residential housing in Canada and the kind of communities Ontarians are likely to want to live in in the coming decades.

The OLIP interns would like to thank Mitch and the rest of Centrecourt for their generous support of the programme. The interns greatly appreciated the opportunity to expand our understanding of the complex and pressing issue of housing by learning from the perspective of a nationally renowned developer. Your partnership is greatly appreciated, and we hope to continue to work together in the future.
