The OLIP interns received a warm welcome visiting OLIP partner, Hill and Knowlton Strategies (H&K), who are based in the WPP Canada building near Toronto’s Harbourfront.
Upon arrival, we were introduced to the many members of H&K’s public affairs team. After touring their thoughtfully designed workspace (with an eye-catching view), we were privileged to learn more about public relations work, the particular approach H&K takes and what makes their perspective on public relations unique: “doing public affairs differently.”
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to have an honest conversation with their many team members during a Q&A discussion, giving us the chance to hear their perspectives on the work they do, whether related to how H&K engages members of the public, the media ecosystem, their network of clients, and their strategies for communicating with elected officials.
We learned from their wide breadth of experiences, both in terms of their projects at H&K, as well as the professional experiences that preceded these (predictably, mainly in the political realm). All of us at OLIP are grateful to H&K for your support to our program, and for the generosity you showed not only in this support, but also through your hospitality.
