Partner Blog: Council of Ontario Universities

Writer's picture: OLIP InternsOLIP Interns

The OLIP interns had the opportunity to meet with one of our esteemed partners, the Council of Ontario Universities (COU). President and CEO of COU, Steve Orsini and Vice President of Public Affairs, Krista Orendorff, joined us virtually to discuss the fascinating work taking place through the COU. The COU is a leading non-partisan organization, committed to fostering student success and provincial prosperity. Representing 20 publicly supported universities across Ontario, along with four associated universities, the COU allows universities to advocate for their shared interests and collaborate with one another with the aim of improved post-secondary education in the province.

Steve and Krista were very generous with their time, allowing the interns to ask a range of questions pertaining to the work of the COU, some of the prominent interests shared by Ontario universities, and the COU’s relationship with the provincial government as a non-partisan organization. We gained insight into how the COU ensures that the wide range of issues held by diverse universities are recognized and negotiated.

We would like to thank Steve and Krista for their time and insight. The interns all gained a unique understanding of the collaboration and advocacy among Ontario universities championed by the COU. We would like to extend our thanks to the Council of Ontario Universities for their ongoing support of OLIP; your partnership is greatly appreciated and crucial to the success of our Programme.
