Before the Legislature resumed, the OLIP Interns were honoured to meet with MPP Mike Schreiner, representative for Guelph and leader of the Green Party of Ontario (GPO). He joined us for an insightful conversation where we discussed a range of issues and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions! This meeting took place at an opportune time, following the Ontario 2025 General Election but before the Ontario legislature resumed, and during the campaign period of the Canadian federal election.
MPP Schreiner shared his post-election reflections with us and discussed his visions for simultaneously addressing climate change and affordability, and some of his goals for the current legislative session. Having recently visited two nuclear power facilities, the interns engaged in conversation regarding the party’s stance on nuclear power in Ontario and the province’s projected increase in energy demand.
With the upcoming federal election, interns were particularly interested in hearing MPP Schreiner’s reflections on strategic voting, working across party lines during and post-election periods, and the important role of third parties in democracy.
We wish to thank MPP Schreiner for stopping by and engaging in conversation with us! Thank you for your support of OLIP!
