The interns had the opportunity to meet with Desmond Cole, a Toronto-based journalist, radio host, and activist. Known for his work advocating for social justice and exploring systemic issues, Cole shared powerful insights into his experiences documented in his book, The Skin We're In. These included experiences of data collection, privacy, and surveillance that impact Black communities across Toronto. During our conversation, Cole emphasized the vital role of journalism in capturing and documenting the lived experiences of marginalized communities. We appreciated his advice to ensure that communities are represented in our work at the Legislature. Thank you, Desmond Cole, for thoughtfully answering our questions and taking the time to meet with us!
