The OLIP interns were delighted to visit one of our newest partners, the Canada Nickel Company (CNC). We traveled to their King Street office early in the morning to meet with OLIP alum Syndey Oakes, Director of Indigenous Relations and Public Affairs and Pierre-Phillipe Dupont, Vice President of Sustainability. Over breakfast, we learned about the company’s Crawford Nickel-Sulphide Project along with its sustainable mining practices and community consultation process.
The Canada Nickel Company was founded in 2019 to develop nickel mining projects in low-risk jurisdictions where mining is commonplace. CNC is using its industry-leading nickel knowledge to create a sustainable supply of metals that are driving the electric vehicle revolution and rapid growth of the stainless-steel market. We also learned about the company’s ongoing collaborative relationship with the Timmins community and Taykwa Tagamou Nation.
We want to thank Sydney and Pierre-Phillipe for meeting with us and for the delicious breakfast. We are incredibly grateful for the Canada Nickel Company’s continued support of OLIP. The program would not be the same without generous partners like you.
