For my Opposition placement, I am excited to be placed with MPP Chandra Pasma of Ottawa West—Nepean. MPP Pasma is the Critic for Education and for Poverty and Homelessness Reduction. In these roles, she is tasked with holding the government accountable on relevant policies and initiatives. As a long-time anti-poverty advocate, MPP Pasma fights tirelessly for the most vulnerable members of our society. The direct experience that she brings to the political sphere allows her to approach policy issues with a unique sense of passion. For example, during stakeholder meetings with education unions and workers, MPP Pasma is always able to empathize and ensure individuals feel heard.
A huge thank you goes out to Liam, Leif, Darren, and of course, MPP Pasma, for the warm welcome onto the team. Thank you for the exciting opportunities you have already given me and I’m so excited for what’s to come!
EDIT: Since this blog was written, MPP Pasma's EA Liam tragically passed away. Karissa and the whole OLIP family send their love to Liam's friends and family. May he rest in peace.
