Matthew Gray

Matthew Gray was born and raised in Maple, Ontario just north of the City of Toronto. He graduated from Queen’s University with a BA (Hon) in Political Studies and Philosophy. There, he developed a passion for all things political. He also has a keen interest in history, and greatly enjoys traveling to regions of the world rich with historical significance. He particularly appreciates the museums, architecture and landmarks of Western European countries including Italy, Ireland and France. He has interned at a law firm, worked as a manager at the Beer Store, and has donated much of his time to local little league baseball, community charities and fundraising events. At Queen’s, he became President of the Critical Thinking Club in his second year, which involved watching documentaries on controversial issues, followed by lively discussion and debate. One of his favourite pastimes is relaxing in Muskoka, where he takes pleasure in reading on the dock, waterskiing, fishing and swimming. Research interests include penal policy, electoral reform, and gender relations in politics. Matthew was a member of the Queen’s Model Parliament, enjoys live music, playing tennis and spending time with family. He also has a soft spot for Toronto sports teams, namely the Maple Leafs. After the internship programme, Matthew is considering attending law school, though hopes to keep his options open.
